Grandma’s Biscuit Tin - you never know what you are going to get! A group of musicians from around Birmingham, UK, that started playing TV themes for fun (and to give Alex’s uncle Neil something to do in retirement) has evolved into a jazz band with a twist - classic swing numbers rubbing shoulders with eclectic takes on more modern songs and original numbers in older styles.
Grandma’s Biscuit Tin have been playing gigs regularly in and around Birmingham since 2017, including appearances at the Birchfield Jazz Festival (2021); Birmingham, Sandwell & West Side Jazz Festival (2022) and B:Music Jazz Festival (2023). They also have performed at charity fundraising nights in support of food banks, besides hosting their own gigs at The Station and The Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath.
Grandma’s Biscuit Tin are:
Linnea Markgren - lead vocals
Iain Jackson - keyboards & vocals
Alexander Cottrell - bass tuba
Neil Cottrell - drums
Nigel Tyson - trumpet
Lisa Nyberg-Jackson formerly played with the band on violin, including on the album 'Carnival'
